NCB has two new CEOs. But who’s running what, and what could this mean for your money?

Sheree Martin has been confirmed as CEO of National Commercial Bank Jamaica, effective September 1. She’s been acting since January and becomes the first woman formally appointed to lead the bank.

Meanwhile, Julian Mair takes over as CEO of NCB Financial Group on November 17.

So, two different jobs.

Martin runs the Jamaican bank—the business behind your NCB account, loans and everyday banking.

While Mair will lead the wider group, including regional businesses Guardian Holdings and Clarien.

He’s coming from JMMB, where he served as chief investment strategist, and previously chaired the Jamaica Stock Exchange. He succeeds Robert Almeida.

For Martin, the priorities include efficiency, governance and improving the customer experience.

For shareholders, these appointments come amid a stock-price recovery. After hitting J$29 last July, NCBFG traded around J$75 this July, before easing to J$68.02 on September 1.

That rebound predates the appointments. But could the new leadership strengthen investor confidence?

My read? Martin offers continuity, while Mair brings capital-markets experience to the group’s growth plans.

For customers, the test will be whether banking gets easier. For shareholders, whether the leadership delivers sustainable profits and better returns.

New appointments set the direction. Results will tell the story.

And that’s the bottom line.

What’s the FIRST thing you want NCB’s new leadership to fix?
