JLP LANDSLIDE, NOW WHAT?

September 8, 2020

The Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, won the 2020 elections in a landslide victory last week, earning them another term in government. (UPDATE: After the official recount, the JLP’s majority has been reduced by one seat. They now have 48 seats to 15 for the PNP).

But with the COVID-19 pandemic still very much on, there’s no time for a honeymoon. The administration must get straight back to work! Business leaders, Keith Duncan of the PSOJ and Richard Pandohie of the JMEA discuss the new government’s top priorities.

And THE ANALYSTS weigh in on the latest market developments…PanJam’s shareholders have approved an additional public offer, but the company has decided it’s still not the right time. And Chinese electric car maker, Nio, is shaking up the market.
