Seprod Wants to Split Its Shares 5-for-1. Here’s What It Means for Investors

Five shares for every one—but not five times the money. That’s what Seprod is proposing.

Seprod has called an Extraordinary General Meeting to seek approval for three moves:

ONE – increasing its authorised shares from one billion to 1.9 billion;

TWO – splitting every issued share into five;

and THREE – giving the board authority to issue new shares in the future, including through an Additional Public Offer.

How would the split work? An investor with 100 Seprod shares would end up with 500. At Seprod’s recent market price of about J$73.56, the post-split price would be roughly J$14.71. So 100 shares worth J$7,356 would become 500 shares worth approximately the same amount.

That lower price could make the stock more accessible to smaller investors and may encourage more trading. But the split alone does not create new value. It simply divides the same ownership into smaller pieces. Six a one and half dozen a the other.

The bigger story though is the request to issue new equity. An additional public offer could bring fresh cash into Seprod to strengthen its balance sheet, integrate its businesses and fund future growth. However, new shares could dilute existing shareholders who do not participate.

Seprod reported J$152 billion in revenue for 2025, up 14 per cent, with operating profit of J$11 billion and net profit attributable to shareholders of J$4 billion.

Shareholders will vote at a virtual EGM on Oct 12, 2026 at noon.

The five-for-one split could make Seprod’s stock easier to buy, but investors should pay even closer attention to any additional public offer—how much money the company wants to raise, the price of the new shares and how the proceeds will be used.

And that’s the bottom line.

Would a lower Seprod share price make you more likely to invest, or are you more concerned about possible dilution?
