Big Win for Jamaican AirBnB Hosts

April 23, 2026

Jamaican AirBnB hosts can now get paid directly to their bank accounts. That means all those extra fees from third party transfers get to stay with you!

It also signals that Jamaica is moving up in the global financial space and shows growth in that area. So it sounds like great news all around. What do you think?

Getting paid as a Jamaican Airbnb host just got a whole lot easier.

I’m Kalilah from Money Media, giving you money news for the Caribbean.

Airbnb is now allowing Jamaican hosts to receive their payments directly into their local bank accounts in US dollars.

That means hosts can avoid some of the international transfer and foreign currency fees that used to eat into your payouts.

And that’s a big deal, because before now, getting paid through Airbnb often meant dealing with a mix of payout methods like international wire transfers, PayPal, Payoneer, or Western Union.

In some cases, by the time the money reached the host, fees tek out a big piece.

So this is great news for Jamaican hosts. It means you should be able to keep more of what you earn, get paid more directly, and deal with less friction when money is coming in from overseas guests.

But it’s also a win on a bigger level. It shows that Jamaica is becoming easier to work with inside the global financial system.

Jamaica was removed from the FATF grey list in 2024 after making what officials called “significant progress” in strengthening its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing policies.

Being grey-listed tends to make cross-border business more expensive and more difficult.

Airbnb paying out directly to Jamaican bank accounts signals that Jamaica’s reputation is improving, and that the country is becoming more aligned with the compliance standards global platforms and payment systems look for.

And that’s the bottom line.
