One YouTuber just gave the Caribbean millions of dollars worth of free promotion.

Internet superstar IShowSpeed just wrapped up his massive Caribbean tour, and the numbers behind it have tourism officials, businesses, and content creators across the region paying attention.

Now, if you don’t know IShowSpeed, his real name is Darren Watkins Jr, and he is one of the biggest streamers on social media right now.

He has more than 50 million subscribers on YouTube and millions more across social media. His livestreams regularly pull hundreds of thousands of live viewers at once.

Recently, Speed visited 15 Caribbean countries, including Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, St Lucia and the Dominican Republic and livestreamed his experiences.

And the numbers were huge.  As Keron Rose noted in the Jamaica Observer, Speed’s Caribbean tour is definitely one of the biggest creator driven internet events of 2026.

During his Jamaica streams alone, he reportedly generated more than 2.8 million views, with nearly 200,000 people watching live at one point. According to Keron’s breakdown, the DR had the strongest stream performance of the entire tour, with roughly 7 million views. The Trinidad, St Lucia, and St Vincent streams pulled around five million views each.

This is more than a big win for entertainment. Millions of young viewers got to see Caribbean countries through Speed’s livestreams in real time. The food, music, culture, beaches, and everyday life felt raw and authentic, instead of heavily produced tourism advertising.

And that exposure could have real economic value. Influencer marketing is a real thing. Social media creators are major drivers of travel decisions, especially among Gen Z travellers who a lot of times choose destinations based on viral content.

So Speed’s tour may have opened the door for more partnerships between tourism boards and digital creators looking to market destinations to younger global audiences.

And that’s the bottom line.
