If you’re an investor watching Guyana right now, pay attention.

Guyana’s oil boom is creating billions in new wealth.  But at the country’s recent Energy Conference, President Ali made it clear that this isn’t just about oil companies.

It’s about investment opportunities for locals, the diaspora, Caribbean investors, and global partners. See Guyana is building an entire investment ecosystem, starting with big infrastructure.

The country is positioning itself as a regional transport and logistics hub, with a deep-water port, road links to Brazil, expanded airports, and major energy projects.

Their next priority is energy expansion.  Guyana doesn’t just want to produce oil. It wants to export energy.

Now here’s where it gets interesting.  Ali says key projects, including a gas bottling plant and fertiliser plant, will be structured for Guyanese ownership.

So this isn’t just foreign capital flowing in.  It’s about locals owning part of the energy value chain.

And this will likely be facilitated through the capital markets.  The government plans to launch a junior stock exchange to help local companies raise money and grow.

Additionally, they’re giving a major boost to small entrepreneurs.  The Guyana Development Bank will offer interest-free, collateral-free loans — backed by technical support to turn ideas into bankable businesses.

Ali’s bottom line? Oil wealth only matters if it reaches citizens’ pockets. The bottom line is the pocket.

And that’s the bottom line.
